Step-by-Step Installation

1

Loosen the Adjustment Strap

Start with the adjustment strap fully loosened so the hat sits at its widest setting.

💡 Tip: Make sure the strap slides freely through the buckle before you begin.
2

Place the Hat Over Your Helmet

Hold the Treadley hat with both hands and lower it over the top of your helmet. The brim should sit level around the helmet circumference.

💡 Tip: Centre the hat so it sits evenly — front, back, and both sides.
3

Tighten the Strap

Position your thumb at the rear of the helmet and pull the adjustment strap until the hat is snug against the helmet. Tuck the excess strap into the hole provided.

💡 Tip: Give the strap several firm tugs. The hat should not spin or wobble on the helmet.
4

Check for Correct Fit

The Treadley hat should sit level and centred on the helmet. Pull upward on the brim to confirm it does not detach. Inspect the hook and loop fasteners for wear.

Important: Failure to properly install the Da Brim could result in it unseating during use, which may lead to serious injury.
💡 Tip: If the hat feels loose, re-tighten the strap. If fasteners are worn, discontinue use and contact us.
5

Put On Your Helmet and Test Vision

Fit the helmet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Check that the brim does not obstruct your vision — look up, down, left, and right.

💡 Tip: After proper installation your peripheral vision should be clear in all directions.

How to Remove the Da Brim

Always remove the Da Brim when stationary and in a safe location.

1

Stop at a safe location and dismount if cycling or riding.

2

Release the adjustment strap by pulling up on the buckle.

3

Lift the Treadley hat off the helmet.

4

Store flat to maintain the brim shape.

Important Safety Information

  • The Treadley Explorer is designed to fit over standard vented bike helmets — not motorcycle, ski, or other specialised helmets.

  • Inspect hook and loop fasteners regularly for wear. If they no longer grip, discontinue use.

  • Always make sure the straps on your helmet are tight, as per the helmet manufacturer's instructions.
