How to Install Your Treadley Explorer
The Treadley Explorer is a UPF50+ helmet hat that pulls over your cycling helmet for 360 degree sun protection. Follow these steps for a secure, comfortable fit.
Step-by-Step Installation
Loosen the Adjustment Strap
Start with the adjustment strap fully loosened so the hat sits at its widest setting.
Place the Hat Over Your Helmet
Hold the Treadley hat with both hands and lower it over the top of your helmet. The brim should sit level around the helmet circumference.
Tighten the Strap
Position your thumb at the rear of the helmet and pull the adjustment strap until the hat is snug against the helmet. Tuck the excess strap into the hole provided.
Check for Correct Fit
The Treadley hat should sit level and centred on the helmet. Pull upward on the brim to confirm it does not detach. Inspect the hook and loop fasteners for wear.
Put On Your Helmet and Test Vision
Fit the helmet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Check that the brim does not obstruct your vision — look up, down, left, and right.
How to Remove the Da Brim
Always remove the Da Brim when stationary and in a safe location.
Stop at a safe location and dismount if cycling or riding.
Release the adjustment strap by pulling up on the buckle.
Lift the Treadley hat off the helmet.
Store flat to maintain the brim shape.
Important Safety Information
The Treadley Explorer is designed to fit over standard vented bike helmets — not motorcycle, ski, or other specialised helmets.
Inspect hook and loop fasteners regularly for wear. If they no longer grip, discontinue use.
Always make sure the straps on your helmet are tight, as per the helmet manufacturer's instructions.
